Rosen Method TrainingDuring the 1930’s Marion Rosen was a member of an extraordinary therapeutic community centered in Munich, Germany, which included such names as Carl Jung, Elsa Gindler, Gustav and Lucy Heyer. All now known as pioneers of the current Western Healing techniques for body, mind and emotional integration. Over time Marion continued to further develop her method using touch, unconscious breath and verbalization to help patient’s access and explore repressed or blocked emotions. According to Marion "The theoretical basis is that the body doesn´t lie. The body retains thoughts, experiences of what really happened." In time she gave into pressure to train others in her method which was producing stunning results with her clients. This training is officially monitored and certified by The Rosen Institute. The primary means of Rosen Method instructional training takes the form of "Intensives." These are typically five to seven day courses designed to maximize the training experience without requiring that a student of the work dedicate a large block of time to training as is required in a traditional school environment. Bodywork Intensive This format of Rosen Method bodywork training concentrates on in-depth work both giving and receiving Rosen Method bodywork sessions. Included are group Rosen Method movement sessions and sharing experiences in a large group format. Bodywork intensives train you to notice subtle changes in muscle tension and shifts in the breath. To recognize these as indications that the client is relaxing and becoming more aware of his or her body and internal experience. You then learn how to respond with touch and words that allow the person receiving the session to recognize what has been held down by unconscious muscle tension. Movement Intensive Marion will tell you that historically the movement aspect of her method came first. It was her initial method to awaken awareness of the emotion to body connection and it remains the least well understood part of her work. Most students of bodywork assume that touch is the answer but for Marion it was just another part of the answer after exploring the movements. In Rosen Method movement intensives one not only learns the secrets of how the body holds emotions but to train the body to move with freedom and joy. Why the Monterey Bay Rosen Center? The Monterey Bay Rosen Method Center's founder, Jane Malek, is one of a very few (other than Marion) that understands and teaches the critical relationship between Rosen Method movement and bodywork. |
